WHAT ARE ORGANIC FOODS ?
Organic Foods are food products that are produced by organic farming practices and handled or processed under organic handling and manufacturing processes as defined by several private and state organic certifying agencies. The “organic” food label identifies that it is grown with practices:
- None use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides and soil fumigants,
- None use of genetic engineering,
- None use of sewage sludge as fertilizer,
- To improve the quality and fertility of the soil,
- To protect water quality,
- To reduce soil erosion,
- To rely on natural biological systems for pest and weed control,
- To reduce the impact of agriculture on our environment,
- To produce high quality, great tasting food.
